Conference Design

I have expertise in delivering conferences that encourage engagement and participation rather than just being ‘presentation’ shops. This includes whole conference design and how to choreograph activities and highly participative interventions within conferences that lead to rigorous academic co-created outcomes. Examples of some of these activities include:

Transformations to Sustainability 2017, Dundee UK:

International Conference with 350 delegates from practice, policy and research backgrounds. Design, Facilitator, Convener. See main conference website and a blog by Professor Mark Reed about the innovative approach to the conference at Fast Track Impact.

Seedbeds of Transformation, Future Earth, Port Elizabeth, South Africa,

International conference with 250 delegates from across Africa. I was a co-designer and facilitator of a large participatory exercise with all conference participants. See the main conference website at Future Earth

Facing the Future, Scotland 2013-2017

Lead convener and designer of five annual conferences for 50-100 early career researchers and professionals in Scotland focusing on change-making skills and capacities.

Transforming knowledge systems, Dundee, UK 2017

Working with H3Uni to co-design and co-facilitator of a major futures exercise with 350 people at the Transformations to sustainability Conference in 2017.
